Online learning has been chosen to be applied in all of schools in Indonesia, this also applies to SMK Negeri 1 Sumatera Barat. Students’ perception is one of the determinant of the success of the learning that is carried out. The aims of this study was to determine students' perceptions of online learning in English subjects during covid-19 pandemic at SMK Negeri 1 Sumatera Barat.
This research was conducted with a quantitative descriptive that focused on survey given to the respondents to know the 3rd students’ perception of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The respondents will be 100 students of SMKN 1 Sumatera Barat which were obtained using a simple random sampling technique, who have been studied online for about over 6 months or 1 semester. In collecting the data, The researcher will collect data through a survey. Eventually, the respondents will be asked some of the same questions through Google Form to gain insight into students' perceptions and students' difficulties in online learning. The results showed that students' perceptions of online learning were not very good, this was caused by several factors, such as poor internet access, difficulty communicating with teachers. Most students chose offline learning rather online learning.
In conclusion, important factors in online learning included the availability of supporting facilities, the application of online learning must be easily accessible, stable internet access, motivate, attractive and give the best media to deliver material during the teaching and learning process.
